Population data, extended to later years on the basis of estimates of
veteran interstate migration, separations from the Armed Forces, and
mortality; not directly comparable with earlier estimates
previously published by the VA. Excludes 602,000 veterans whose only
active duty military service of less than two years occured since
Sept. 8, 1980, and who failed to satisfy the minimum service requirement.
Also excludes a small indeterminate number of National Guard
personnel or reservists who incurred service-connected disabilities
while on an initial tour of active duty for training only]
